Quick Example of some images im throwing in for the control side of things, gives a quick tutorial if you will of how to do the different type oooo jumpz
You realize this is pointless, we all realize each of the jumps are higher than the last, but without proportions or context this isn't helpful.
Add some units that show the increase, give a height to the player character and some examples of obstacles and their heights.
In addition, forward momentum will need to be explained, how far the player moves forward as well as upward.
In that case, platform to platform jumps will need to be designated so that there is a given example of when the player needs to use which jump in which scenario.
This is just a small image to go under the jump control section, this isn't intended to be full of information, ill be writing about that its just so readers can see with their eyes how it will be. Sure we all realize each jump will be higher but we also all realize what's going in the game. Plus just posting everything i do so no haarm braahhh
Im just throwing everything i have in the control section, since tonight if all the time i have for a couple of days id prefer to deleted the undeed bits then be missing them
Thanks for the advice, the images ive got i dont think im going to put into the doc im gonna email Phil tonight, ill separate them since my cs5 skills are very very very shit and might make the section look tacky.
At the moment we don't really have a px scale for people to stick to so most measurements we should design around would probably have to work around the height of the players size. Like Jonny said, it'd be good to have a diagram sort of what you've already done but showing how high in relation to his height he's able to jump/double jump (% along with pics)

ReplyDeleteThis document is for our eyes though, it needs to be very technical.
ReplyDeleteJust add units and proportions to that image, otherwise its pointless. You will just be adding another image below it with the needed information.
well with us being unsure of the height jumped not much else i can add, the idea behind them was just for readers to see it "in action" so to say

ReplyDeleteSpeak to Ben G or any of the other programmers and they can give you a general idea of what units to note down etc.
ReplyDeleteOther than that, you can use percentages of the players height.
So like the first jump is 20% higher than the size of the player, or something along those lines.
Also with the forward jumps.
